14.02.2025
A thief stole expensive electronics from Atlantic Ave subway station, using a power saw to access secured equipment. Authorities are investigating the incident and seeking public assistance to identify the suspect. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Surveillance Footage Captures Atlantic Ave Subway Station Theft
Police say the suspect targeted Atlantic Ave subway station late at night in December. He used a circular saw to cut open a locked box on the northbound D/N/R subway platform.

The crime happened around 3 a.m. on December 27 in Brooklyn, according to officials. Surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing dark clothing and carrying a gray backpack.
The video reportedly captures him waiting for a train to leave before pulling out the saw. Sparks fly as he cuts through the thick metal chain securing the black box.
After breaking in, the suspect removes valuable electronic hardware and software. He quickly flees the scene before authorities arrive at the location.
Investigators could not confirm whether the stolen equipment belonged to the MTA system. However, they are reviewing all available footage and collecting evidence to track him down.
Police Investigate Grand Larceny at Atlantic Ave Subway Station
This incident follows another major subway theft reported earlier this month. Police recently arrested two teenagers for allegedly stealing and driving an empty train.
Officials note that grand larceny, which involves stolen goods valued over $1,000, is declining citywide. According to NYPD data, major thefts have dropped 21% compared to last year’s statistics.
Despite this positive trend, transit-related crimes still pose concerns for law enforcement. Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activity within subway stations.
Investigators continue working on the case and request help from anyone with relevant information. They believe surveillance footage will play a key role in identifying the suspect.
