MakeMyTrip Introduces Smart Tools to Improve Ticket Booking
02.06.2025
MakeMyTrip has launched two AI-driven tools that help travelers book train tickets in India more efficiently by predicting seat availability in advance. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Seat Availability Forecast and Sold-out Alerts features address inconsistent booking patterns that often result in passengers ending up with waitlisted tickets.

In India, travelers can book railway tickets up to 60 days ahead of their departure. However, around 40% of MakeMyTrip users book tickets over multiple sessions.
Nearly 70% of these users ultimately buy waitlisted seats because confirmed options are unavailable by the time bookings are completed.
Demand varies widely depending on seasonality. For example, most express trains were fully booked about 13 days before departure in April.
By May, that number increased to 20 days or more, making it harder for users to decide when to confirm their travel plans.
MakeMyTrip Uses Predictive Data for Smarter Bookings
To fix this issue, MakeMyTrip integrated Seat Availability Forecast into its website and app. This tool uses historical data and real-time trends to estimate when seats will sell out.
By offering this insight, the platform helps travelers plan better and avoid last-minute disappointment when booking popular trains.
Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO, explained that the goal is to solve real problems through intelligent, data-driven innovation.
MakeMyTrip Alerts Help Avoid Last-Minute Surprises
The second feature, Sold-out Alerts, notifies users when seat availability drops below a certain threshold. This prompt allows travelers to act fast and confirm bookings early.
Both tools now operate seamlessly within MakeMyTrip’s train booking system, creating a faster and smarter experience for millions of Indian passengers.
Together, these updates demonstrate the company’s commitment to improving access, planning, and certainty for train travel in India.
