Liebherr-Transportation Systems Provides Advanced Solutions for Rail Transport

Liebherr-Transportation Systems will supply CAF with 1,632 mechanisms for adjusting the floor level in railcars. These devices will be installed on 102 light rail vehicles intended for Boston’s Green Line. Production and deliveries are planned from 2025 through 2029.

The mechanisms are manufactured at Liebherr-Transportation Systems’ factory in Korneuburg, Austria, ensuring high quality and precision. They adjust the floor height at the vehicle entrance to match platform levels accurately. This is achieved through an electro-hydraulic drive controlled by advanced sensors.

The floor height can vary by up to 80 millimeters depending on specific requirements. These solutions enhance comfort for all passengers, including those with limited mobility, cyclists, and parents with strollers. Such innovations contribute to a more accessible and user-friendly transportation experience.

Reliable Liebherr-Transportation Systems Technologies for Passenger Comfort

Liebherr-Transportation Systems and CAF began collaborating more than a decade ago, in 2013. Their first project involved supplying floor-level adjustment mechanisms for light rail vehicles in Houston. This partnership later expanded to other U.S. cities, such as Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Boston.

Liebherr’s electro-hydraulic mechanisms deliver convenience and safety, meeting modern urban mobility demands. These technologies ensure transportation systems are accessible, reliable, and tailored to contemporary standards of usability.
