Liebherr Expands Railway HVAC Production in Bulgaria

Liebherr is investing in a new facility in Radinovo to double the output of climate control systems and meet growing demand across the European Union. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The new site will replace the plant operating since 2009 and expand production space from 9,200 to 20,000 m². Launch is scheduled for 2026.

Liebherr Project in Bulgaria Targets the EU Market
The plant will specialize in ventilation, air conditioning, and heating systems for rail transport. The EU remains the company’s primary sales region.
The company cites increasing demand and the need to scale operations. Expanded capacity will support faster delivery of both current and future contracts.
Liebherr Delivers for a Major Project in Kazakhstan
Liebherr is currently supplying 557 HVAC units for passenger coaches manufactured by Stadler for Kazakhstan’s national rail operator, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
Payment is made in Kazakhstani tenge, with the current contract valued at approximately $3.1 million. The project is part of an international partnership.
In addition to Bulgaria, Liebherr operates HVAC production sites in Germany, Austria, and China. However, the EU market remains a strategic priority.
The new plant will create jobs, improve logistics, and enhance flexibility in meeting customer orders.
By strengthening its presence in Eastern Europe, Liebherr reinforces its leadership in the railway HVAC sector and supports sustainable growth.
