L.A. Metro Transit Project Could Save Thousands of Hours

Depending on the final design, travel between Van Nuys Metrolink and the Metro Expo Line may take 18 to 33 minutes. Connections to Century City could range from 25 to 36 minutes, and to Santa Monica, 32 to 50 minutes.

Officials estimate the project will cost between $15.4 billion and $24.4 billion. Annual operation and maintenance expenses may range from $130 million to $157 million. These figures remain preliminary due to the design being only 15% complete.

L.A. Metro Eyes Long-Term Traffic Solutions for Los Angeles

By offering a reliable alternative to personal vehicles, the L.A. Metro project seeks to ease daily traffic for tens of thousands. It could also reduce carbon emissions and improve public transit reliability citywide.

Planners emphasize that the Sepulveda Transit Corridor is key to future-proofing the region’s transportation. It will undergo environmental review and community feedback phases before construction begins.

L.A. Metro views this project as essential for sustainable growth in Los Angeles. If implemented successfully, it will reshape how residents travel across the city—faster, safer, and without the stress of gridlock.
