Končar Unveils Its First Battery Train: A Highlight at InnoTrans 2024
27.08.2024
The Croatian company Končar has introduced its first battery train, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This two-car train will make its debut at InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin. The train is manufactured for Croatia’s national passenger operator, HŽPP.
In late 2022, a contract was signed for the production of two trains: one battery-powered and one hybrid, operating both on the contact network and battery power.
The contract is valued at €17 million excluding VAT. Over 70% of the funding is provided by the European Union under Croatia’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The deal also includes the delivery of six charging stations.
Both trains are expected to operate up to 18 hours a day, with a daily mileage of up to 480 km.
The maximum speed of the train on 25 kV AC lines will be 160 km/h, and 120 km/h in battery mode. The two-car trains will have the capacity to carry up to 200 passengers.
