The Gotthard Base Tunnel restoration: Full launch is planned for September 2024

The Coradia Max trains will be equipped with the modern electro-pneumatic braking system SysControl, the modular brake management system FlexControl, and eco-friendly oil-free piston compressors PistonSupply Eco.

Additionally, Knorr-Bremse subsidiaries IFE and Evac will provide the SanSys sanitary systems and 672 entry systems for these trains.

Knorr-Bremse will also equip the trains with retractable ramps for passengers with limited mobility, enhancing accessibility.

This deal continues the successful collaboration between Knorr-Bremse and Alstom. In September 2023, Knorr-Bremse supplied braking systems for Alstom’s high-speed Zefiro Express trains. That multi-million euro contract included the latest CubeControl brake management system, as well as bogie equipment and compressed air supply units for the braking systems.

The contract with Alstom highlights Knorr-Bremse’s leadership in developing and supplying innovative braking systems and other railway equipment.

By using advanced technologies and solutions like SysControl and FlexControl, the Coradia Max trains will offer high levels of safety and comfort for passengers.

Eco-friendly solutions, including oil-free piston compressors, demonstrate the company’s commitment to sustainable development and minimizing environmental impact.

The significance of this contract lies not only in its financial aspects but also in the strategic partnership with Alstom, which opens new opportunities for both companies.

The use of Knorr-Bremse’s advanced technologies in Alstom projects contributes to improving the quality of rail transport and strengthening positions in the global market.
