JSC “Kedentransservice”, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) and the largest operator of logistics terminals in the country, together with the German transport and logistics company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA), have signed an agreement to provide forwarding services, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The goal of this cooperation is the development of multimodal terminals in Kazakhstan and other countries, as well as the organization of transportation via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

According to the agreement, by the end of 2024, it is planned to ship 1000 TEU of cellulose through the Caspian Sea along the Shymkent (Kazakhstan) – Poti (Georgia) route.

In addition, about 400 TEU with products from Philip Morris Kazakhstan will be transported from Almaty to Poti, and 280 TEU with Ericsson products will follow the route Istanbul – Poti – Almaty.

The state enterprise “Kedentransservice” was established in 1997 by a decree of the government of Kazakhstan for the customs escort of goods and vehicles.

In 2011, the Russian PJSC “TransContainer” became a co-owner of the company, purchasing 50% of the shares.

In 2019, KTZ became the sole owner of the operator, acquiring the stake from the Russian partner.

Today, “Kedentransservice” has an extensive network of offices, including representations in China, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. The company is the main operator at the border stations with China, Dostyk and Altynkol, with processing capacities of 9.5 and 6.8 million tons per year, respectively.

In 2022, the enterprise processed 266,000 TEU, which is 78% more compared to the previous year. The company’s revenue exceeded 44 billion tenge (approximately USD 92.7 million).

The cooperation with HHLA opens up new opportunities for the development of transport infrastructure in the region and strengthens trade ties between Europe and Asia.

The companies intend to actively develop logistics routes and improve the quality of services provided, which will contribute to the increase in transportation volumes and the economic growth of the participating countries.
