“Kazakhstan Railways” intends to purchase 559 locomotives

In 2023, “Kazakhstan Railways” acquired 112 new locomotives, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This allowed reducing the wear of the locomotive fleet from 68% in 2020 to 52% by the end of 2023.
By 2029, the national carrier plans to procure 75 mainline diesel locomotives TE33AS, 36 mainline diesel locomotives 2TE25KM, 130 electric locomotives KZ8A, 18 shunting diesel locomotives TEM11A, 37 passenger diesel locomotives TEP33A, and 63 passenger electric locomotives KZ4AT of local production.
Additionally, “Kazakhstan Railways” has entered into an agreement with the Chinese corporation China Railway Rolling Stock to purchase 100 shunting and 100 mainline locomotives.
