JR Central to Purchase 17 New Shinkansen N700S Trains: Deliveries to Begin in 2026

The Japanese railway company JR Central continues to expand its fleet of high-speed trains by announcing the acquisition of an additional 17 Shinkansen N700S trainsets, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The sixteen-car electric trains N700S are manufactured through a collaboration between Hitachi and Nippon Sharyo, companies well-established in the production of high-tech railway equipment.
Previously, JR Central placed a significant order for 59 such trains.
Over 40 of these are already in operation, providing reliable and fast connections on key routes across the country.
The commissioning of the new trainsets will further increase the capacity of the railway network and improve the quality of transportation.
