Tashkent denies plans to attract private investments for the ‘China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan’ railway project, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

According to Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Zhasurbek Choriev, it is not possible to build a railway connecting three countries through a public-private partnership since it is a strategic asset.

“Perhaps a consortium will be involved, as there are three stakeholders, and other countries may also be interested in contributing their funds,” he added.

The high-ranking official emphasized that Uzbekistan will invest its own funds in the project because it will help better navigate crises and support economic growth.

It is worth noting that earlier, the Minister of Transport of Kyrgyzstan, Tilek Tekebaev, stated that the ‘China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan’ railway could be built through a public-private partnership or by attracting loans.
