Due to the restrictions imposed by Ukrzaliznytsia on the transit of goods to the EU countries, international forwarders and container operators are changing the routes of their trains.

UZ conventions

Note that UZ on November 30 canceled the transit of goods and wagons to Poland, and from December 6 – to Slovakia, Austria and the Czech Republic.

There are some restrictions on the route to Hungary, reports Railway Supply. International railway operators are changing routes bypassing the Ukrainian railways.

Thus, the RSTB company has already redirected several of its trains through Belarus and Kaliningrad.

At the same time, Martin Koubek from Metrans announced that his company will take the same measures if it becomes impossible to travel through Ukraine.

“We will go through Belarus,” he said. Earlier, JSC UTLC ERA, one of the largest international operators that provides services for organizing transportation as part of regular container trains on the China-EU route, announced that the ban on transit to Poland harms the image of the transport corridor through Ukraine.

The timing of the cancellation of the conventions is currently unknown.

Among the reasons for the introduction of restrictions on transportation to Poland, UZ named the electrification of the Kovel-Izov-State border section, repair work on the tracks, as well as the elimination of the issue of train congestion at the border.
