Automation and Design of Metro Trains
The newly designed metro trains will operate on the expanded Red Line, which will stretch from 39 km to 44 km after phase two construction. These metro trains will be equipped with GoA4 automation, enabling driverless operation, a critical innovation that enhances safety and efficiency. Additionally, the city will build a new depot at Indroda in Gandhinagar, further optimizing train maintenance and operations.
Key Contracts and Expansion
In 2023, a contract worth 3.5 billion rupees (approximately $42 million) was signed between Titagarh Rail Systems and the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). This deal marks the third largest order for the company in India.
Previously, Titagarh Rail Systems secured a contract for 204 driverless train cars for Bangalore’s metro system. These orders demonstrate the company’s growing influence in India’s rail industry.
The introduction of new metro trains in Ahmedabad signifies a major milestone in the city’s urban infrastructure. With advanced automation and a passenger-centric design, these metro trains will ensure a safer, more comfortable, and efficient commuting experience.
As Titagarh Rail Systems continues to innovate, it plays a key role in transforming metro systems across the country.
