Major upgrades focus on essential corridors like the Golden Quadrilateral and Golden Diagonal, which connect India’s major cities. These enhancements significantly reduce travel time, improve logistics efficiency, and support economic growth by facilitating faster transportation of goods and passengers.
Beyond the 23,000 kilometers of track upgraded to handle speeds of 130 kmph, an additional 54,337 kilometers have been enhanced to support speeds of 110 kmph. This systematic expansion strengthens nationwide connectivity, making train travel more efficient and accessible.

The Vande Bharat Express showcases these advancements, reaching speeds of 160 kmph while offering premium comfort. To ensure the safe operation of high-speed trains, Indian Railways has prioritized the installation of safety fencing along critical sections of tracks.
In addition to infrastructure improvements, Indian Railways has increased the number of specialized train services during peak travel periods. Over the past year, these services have risen by 54%, reflecting the success of modernization efforts in expanding network capacity.
