Indian Railways, one of the largest railway networks in the world, is taking another step towards digital transformation in its recruitment process, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Indian Railways Accelerates Hiring Process with DigiLocker

The company recently integrated DigiLocker, an electronic document storage system developed by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, with its recruitment portal.

This innovative solution allows applicants to link their digital documents to their job applications. Documents uploaded via DigiLocker are considered equivalent to their original paper versions.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the time required for document verification and approval.

The use of this platform is anticipated to cut the hiring process duration, which currently takes between 18 to 24 months, down to less than six months.

The integration will speed up application processing through an automated data authentication system, reducing the likelihood of fake documents and streamlining the hiring process for government positions.

As the largest employer in the country, Indian Railways receives millions of applications annually.

The introduction of DigiLocker is expected not only to accelerate document verification but also to enhance the overall efficiency of the hiring process.

Additionally, the company has implemented an annual recruitment calendar system, further optimizing the recruitment process.

From January to July of the current year, five centralized recruitment notifications were issued for 40,554 vacancies, including positions for assistant locomotive drivers, technicians, junior inspectors, constables in the Railway Protection Force, junior engineers, depot material superintendents, and chemical and metallurgical assistants.

These innovations make the hiring process more transparent and efficient, marking an important step in improving the operation of one of the world’s largest transportation systems.

The use of advanced technologies, such as DigiLocker, helps reduce bureaucratic costs and expedite the hiring process, which is particularly important in the context of high competition and a large number of job applications.

Thus, Indian Railways demonstrates its commitment to modernizing and enhancing the quality of its HR processes.
