Indian company BEML and Malaysian SMH Rail have signed a strategic partnership agreement, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This collaboration covers the supply and maintenance of rolling stock in Southeast Asia and Africa.

The agreement includes the creation of a joint component base and collaborative work on rail transport design tailored to the requirements of various clients.

The companies have also agreed on technological exchange to optimize costs for research and development.

Currently, BEML has contracts to supply nearly 900 metro cars for Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, as well as 10 sleeper trains (160 cars) of the Vande Bharat platform for Indian Railways.

SMH Rail, in turn, specializes in the production of diesel and electric trains, metro cars, locomotives, freight cars, and track machines.

Through a joint venture with Indian company Medha Servo Drives, SMH Rail is also involved in the production of monorail trains for Mumbai.
