The Government of India continues its active modernization of railway infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This time, a comprehensive plan has been approved, including the construction of eight new railway lines, which are expected to be completed by 2030.

The total length of the new routes will be 900 kilometers, and 64 stations will be built as part of the project.

The project includes the following lines:

  • Gunupur – Therubali (73.6 km)
  • Junagadh – Nabarangpur (116.2 km)
  • Badampahar – Kendujhargarh (82.1 km)
  • Bangriposi – Gorumahisani (85.6 km)
  • Malkangiri – Pandurangpuram (173.6 km)
  • Buramara – Chakulia (60 km)
  • Jalna – Jalgaon (174 km)
  • Vikramshila – Kataria (26.2 km)

The implementation of these projects will not only add a significant number of kilometers to the national railway network but also improve transport accessibility in remote regions of India.

The total budget for these initiatives is nearly $3 billion, underscoring the government’s serious intentions.

In a country with a population of over a billion people, railways play a key role in the movement of passengers and goods.

These new lines will help optimize logistics and contribute to an increase in freight traffic, which, according to estimates by the Indian Ministry of Railways, will reach 143 million tons per year.

These projects will not only create jobs but also strengthen connections between rural and urban areas, which should ultimately contribute to the economic growth of the regions.

Special attention is being given to routes that cross multiple states, which is particularly relevant for less developed regions.

For example, the Buramara – Chakulia line, which is only 60 km long, will pass through three states: Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Another important line, from Malkangiri to Pandurangpuram, will connect Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, providing more efficient transportation of goods.

Meanwhile, the longest line, Jalna – Jalgaon, at 174 km, will run entirely through the state of Maharashtra.

It is expected to play an important role in the development of tourism in the region, as highlighted by the Ministry of Railways on its social media.

Thus, the implementation of these projects will be an important step towards creating a modern and efficient transportation system in India, which will contribute to both domestic and international development of the country.
