The Indian government has announced a ₹10,000 crore rail infrastructure investment in Bihar, aiming to transform the state’s railway network through modernization and expansion. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the update during a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for a level crossing project near Karpoori Gram station in Samastipur district.

He emphasized that this allocation in the Union Budget 2025–26 reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to boosting connectivity and development in the region.

During his visit, Vaishnaw unveiled a new set of passenger amenities at Karpoori Gram station. He also confirmed that the station will now fall under the Samastipur railway division, shifting from Sonpur. This administrative move resolves a long-pending demand and is expected to improve operational efficiency.

₹10,000 Crore Rail Infrastructure Investment in Bihar Confirmed

The minister also announced the launch of four new Amrit Bharat trains to enhance regional and national rail links. These include:

  • A daily Patna–Delhi service
  • A weekly Darbhanga–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) train
  • A weekly Malda–Lucknow route
  • A Saharsa–Amritsar connection

In addition to these services, several large-scale infrastructure projects are moving forward under the ₹10,000 crore rail infrastructure investment in Bihar. These include:

  • A third rail line from Bhagalpur to Jamalpur (53 km) at ₹1,156 crore
  • Doubling the Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya line (104 km) at ₹2,017 crore
  • A doubling project in the Rampur–Bhagalpur area with a ₹3,000 crore budget

New Trains and Digital Projects Under ₹10,000 Crore Bihar Investment

Vaishnaw also revealed plans to strengthen Bihar’s digital railway infrastructure. Two new Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) will be developed. One will be located in Patna (Patliputra) at a cost of ₹53 crore, and the second will receive ₹10 crore. These technology hubs are expected to support innovation and digital services across Indian Railways.

Earlier that day, the minister inspected Digha Bridge Halt station in Patna. He issued directives to improve passenger facilities, ensuring better service delivery across Bihar’s growing railway system.
