The meeting prioritized multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency under PM GatiShakti’s Master Plan. Roads, railways, IT, and metro systems dominated discussions for their transformative potential.
India Targets Roads with Seven Ambitious Projects
The NPG assessed seven road projects to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion nationwide. These efforts target faster travel, better trade, and improved socio-economic growth across regions.
Authorities plan a four-lane highway from Kishanganj to Bahadurganj in Bihar, spanning 23.649 km. This greenfield project connects NH-27 and NH-327E, easing traffic and boosting trade.
Meanwhile, Telangana’s Hyderabad Regional Ring Road Expressway promises a 158.64 km high-speed corridor. The four-lane route links Girmapur to Choutuppal, supporting economic hubs like SEZs.
Punjab’s Sirhind-Sehna section of NH-205AG will feature a 106.92 km four-lane highway. Part of Bharatmala Pariyojana, it offers an alternative to crowded urban roads.
Andhra Pradesh targets smoother port access with a six-lane road to Visakhapatnam Port. This 12.66 km project reduces NH-16 congestion and speeds up cargo movement.
India Upgrades More Roads and Expands Railways
Rajasthan’s Jaipur Northern Ring Road aims to divert heavy traffic from NH-48 and NH-52. This greenfield project includes bridges and toll plazas for better connectivity.
Gujarat upgrades the Limbdi-Dhrangadhra section of NH-51, covering 62.822 km with bypasses. The two-lane highway strengthens ties between Saurashtra and Kachchh regions.
Additionally, the Zirakpur Bypass in Punjab and Haryana spans 19.2 km with six lanes. It tackles congestion in Zirakpur and Panchkula with advanced interchanges.
The NPG reviewed two railway projects to bolster capacity and efficiency in Bihar and Maharashtra. These upgrades promise faster freight and passenger movement across key routes.
Bihar’s Bhagalpur to Jamalpur broad gauge line stretches 52.810 km and enhances connectivity. The project links Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, and Jamalpur, cutting rail congestion significantly.
Maharashtra doubles its Aurangabad-Parbhani railway line, extending 177.29 km through three districts. This expansion eases pressure on busy corridors and boosts trade.
Technology and Metro Projects Drive Progress
Meanwhile, the National Knowledge Network Phase-II strengthens the nation’s digital backbone for research. It connects universities and government bodies with high-speed, reliable networks.
Gujarat’s GIFT City Metro Corridor, spanning 7.585 km, enhances urban mobility in phases. This initiative cuts travel time, fuel use, and emissions effectively.
These 11 projects reflect the nation’s commitment to modern infrastructure and economic growth. The NPG’s evaluations ensure alignment with national development goals.
Why This Matters for the Future?
Improved roads and railways mean faster trade and better access to key regions. Technology and metro upgrades further support education, governance, and urban life.
Experts say these efforts under PM GatiShakti will drive logistics efficiency and sustainability. India positions itself as a global leader with this mega infra push.
