The railway stations “Kokand,” “Samarkand,” and “Tashkent,” as well as the airports “Andijan” and “Urgench,” will be handed over to private companies, according to the decision announced during a meeting on January 29 with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
It has also been decided to repair the airfields of Shakhrisabz, Saryosiyo, and Kokand “with the organization of domestic civil aviation communication.”
The timelines and conditions for transferring these transportation facilities to private hands are not specified.
It’s worth noting that the fate of the Andijan and Urgench airports was discussed a year ago, with the plan to complete their transfer to private management by the end of 2023.
