In the Republic of Korea, the first ITX-Maum electric trains have been put into operation

The national railway operator of the country, Korail, has introduced the first nine four-car electric trains produced by the South Korean company Dawonsys, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply
A total of 107 trains have been ordered, and they are named ITX-Maum.
The trains will be available in four- and six-car versions to serve regional routes.
Development of signaling for autonomous trains
Each four-car set can accommodate 264 passengers, while the six-car set can carry 392 passengers.
ITX-Maum trains can reach speeds of up to 150 km/h and are designed to operate as multiple units.
The first nine trains will operate seven circular routes on the Gyeongbu, Honam, Jeolla, and Taebaek lines.
Discounts of 20-30% are available on tickets until October 31, 2023.
The trains are equipped with amenities for passengers with limited mobility, including free Wi-Fi access, electrical outlets, and USB ports at each seat, as well as individual reading lights.
The trains also feature a video surveillance system and defibrillators.
Operator Korail placed an order for the first 150 cars with Dawonsys in December 2018 and added an order for 208 more cars in November 2019.
All ITX-Maum trains will begin passenger service by 2028.
