24.05.2024

This expansion will require additional trams, some of which were previously provided by Warsaw and Ostrava.

Konotop’s mayor, Artem Semenikhin, shared this information in an interview with CTS.
Despite the war, when asked if the city’s leadership is abandoning plans to develop the tram system, Semenikhin replied that they plan to create five tram lines and fully reconstruct the tram network, once financial resources are secured and the security situation allows.
The mayor noted that there are places where trams have to wait for another tram to pass from the terminus, causing inconvenience and time loss in logistics.
Earlier, the city received 25 Tatra T6A5 trams from Ostrava and 23 Konstal 105Na trams from Warsaw.
On May 22 of this year, tram traffic in Konotop was suspended due to damage to the power infrastructure as a result of Russian shelling.
