The ongoing modernization of the country’s railway infrastructure is a result of collaboration with the Chinese company CRRC, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Recently, another batch of 430 platforms has been put into operation, with 230 designated for the Mombasa-Nairobi line and the remaining 200 for the country’s narrow-gauge network.
This marks a significant advancement in Kenya’s transportation system, which spans over 2,000 km.
The new freight cars, with a capacity of 70 tons, will be used to transport various goods, thereby enhancing logistics efficiency and the country’s economic development.
Given the successful collaboration with CRRC since 2015, further growth in railway transportation in Kenya can be expected in the coming years.
