The design is based on the experience of the Japanese Shinkansen line, accommodating up to 200 units of 40 types of equipment for replacing bogies, wheels, data reading, and other purposes.
This project is associated with India’s first high-speed corridor connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
The tender for E5 Series Shinkansen trains was announced in July, aiming for the delivery of 24 Japanese trains with a maximum speed of 320 km/h.
These trains are equipped with anti-derailment technology, seismic-resistant construction, and improved suspension.
The launch of operations on the corridor is planned for 2026 with a procurement cost of approximately 110 billion rupees ($1.33 billion).
