The Railway Workers’ Union RAU initiated the strike on Monday, February 12th, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Consequently, long-distance trains, as well as suburban and night trains, have been canceled throughout the country.

It is estimated that around 200,000 passengers in the capital region will be affected by the strike.

From Monday evening until Tuesday, railway dispatchers will also join the protest actions, potentially leading to further train cancellations on Tuesday.

Additionally, protest actions led by the Union of Public Sector and Welfare Services JHL will take place on February 14th and 15th.

The strikes will impact local transport companies in Helsinki, Turku, and Tampere.

Bus services will be affected, and metro and tram services will be completely halted.

Bus drivers and port workers will also join the protests.

Earlier, German railway workers announced a week-long strike.
