Deutsche Bahn signed a $218 million agreement with Siemens Mobility to prepare up to 32 ICE 3neo trains for international routes connecting Germany with Poland and France, marking a major step in European high-speed rail integration. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The new deal builds on existing contracts for 90 ICE 3neo units, originally signed in 2020. So far, 29 trains operate on domestic routes and international lines linking Frankfurt with Brussels and Amsterdam.

Siemens will install additional systems at its Krefeld plant to meet Polish and French safety standards. These modifications will enable seamless cross-border travel and compliance with signaling regulations for both countries.

DB expects the first trains approved for Poland and France by 2031. However, this adjustment pushes the final delivery from 2030 to 2032, slightly extending the original schedule to accommodate technical upgrades and new features.

ICE 3neo Interior Design and Passenger Features

DB introduced the ICE 3neo interior design in 2023, but new innovations have since followed. First-class passengers can now use inductive phone chargers, and adaptive lighting creates a modern ambiance throughout the cabin.

Additional enhancements include oak decorative elements on seats and walls, along with touchless waste bins in restrooms, reinforcing comfort, hygiene, and design elegance for an improved passenger experience on all ICE 3neo journeys.

This investment positions Deutsche Bahn as a leader in sustainable rail transport. By expanding its high-speed network with ICE 3neo, DB strengthens connections between Germany, Poland, and France while offering a superior alternative to short-haul flights.
