The maximum speed has increased to 100 km/h, significantly enhancing efficiency. The traction force has also risen to 215 kN, an increase of 20 kN. The new Deutz diesel engine can run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in addition to diesel fuel. This makes the locomotive more eco-friendly and helps reduce harmful emissions, meeting modern environmental standards.

Hybrid Locomotive Technology: Efficiency and Sustainability

Thanks to the ability to switch between electric, battery, and diesel power, the hybrid locomotive offers great versatility. This flexibility allows companies to lower their operating costs and cut down CO2 emissions.

For companies seeking more sustainable solutions, this locomotive meets their needs. Lokpool, the company that ordered five of these modernized locomotives, plans to put them into service by the third quarter of 2025. These hybrid locomotives will help reduce carbon footprints and improve energy efficiency across railway networks.

By utilizing modern lithium-titanate batteries and a new diesel engine that can run on HVO, the Alstom Am 841 hybrid locomotive has become a more efficient and environmentally conscious machine. Muller Technologie’s modernization efforts provide a glimpse into the future of rail transport, where eco-friendly and efficient solutions come together.

The Future of Hybrid Locomotives

Muller Technologie’s modernized hybrid locomotives will soon play a key role in the rail industry. With their increased efficiency and adaptability, these machines promise better energy savings and lower environmental impact. Hybrid locomotive technology is a promising solution for railway operators aiming to improve cost efficiency while minimizing environmental damage.

The innovations from Muller Technologie and ABB make these locomotives more reliable and powerful. Their introduction marks a significant step toward greener and more efficient rail transport systems that prioritize sustainability and performance.
