Head of Ukrzaliznytsia spoke at the 70th CER General Assembly in Berlin
The leaders of Europe’s leading railways gathered this week in Berlin for the 70th General Assembly of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) to evaluate and set priorities for 2023. Leading experts in the industry are calling for European policy to stimulate the transition to the railway. Railway Supply magazine wrote about this citing IRJ.
The Assembly has adopted a series of position papers on combined transport, vehicle weights and dimensions, certification of train drivers and revision of guidelines for state aid to rail transport.
The General Director of Ukrzaliznytsia, Mr. Alexander Kamyshin, stressed Ukraine’s absolute commitment to maintaining a functional rail service during this difficult time and expressed gratitude for the continued support of the European rail community.
As part of the InnoTrans 2022 exhibition, Alexander Kamyshin also met with DB CEO Richard Lutz. They signed a memorandum providing for support and cooperation in the field of international cargo transportation. The goal of the new partnership is to improve rail freight transport, including agricultural transport.
The agreement covers cooperation in expanding rail freight corridors, terminal capacity and consulting services to introduce European standards in rail management, and also involves obtaining assistance in the restoration of rail infrastructure.
