The Croatian operator HŽ Infrastruktura is set to receive significant grants from the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure, and the Environment (CINEA) to enhance its railway infrastructure, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.

Develop Railway Infrastructure

A total of 250 million euros will be allocated to fund two key projects.

This includes the construction and electrification of sections between Ivanic-Grad and Popovica, as well as Popovica to Kutina.

Additionally, there will be the preparation of a conceptual project for a new double-track electrified railway spanning Skradnik, Krasica, and Tijani, covering a distance of 72 kilometers with a permissible train speed of 160 km/h.

This marks a significant milestone in the modernization of Croatia’s railway network, underlining the ambitious investment plans of HŽ Infrastruktura for the next decade, with over 4 billion euros allocated to improve the country’s infrastructure.

These investments will not only enhance railway connections in Croatia but also stimulate regional economic development.

Furthermore, the projects will contribute to reducing environmental impact through electrification and modern railway standards.

It’s important to note that receiving grants from CINEA covering 85% of the total project costs reflects the support from the European Union.

This undoubtedly fosters the development of railway transportation and the establishment of a more efficient transport infrastructure in Croatia.
