11.05.2025
GO Transit will boost its rail services through Hamilton beginning 17 May, with all Niagara-bound trains on the Lakeshore West line stopping at West Harbour GO Station. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The update adds four weekday and six weekend train stops at West Harbour GO, giving passengers more travel options. Riders commuting between Hamilton and Niagara will benefit from greater schedule flexibility and direct connections.
Don’t miss…Shibuya Station Redevelopment to Finish by 2034
This service expansion became possible after Metrolinx completed a new connecting track at West Harbour. The track eliminates the need for reversing maneuvers, streamlining operations and improving journey times.
Construction was expected to finish by fall, but the work ended early. As a result, GO Transit will roll out the improvements months ahead of schedule.
Travelers in Hamilton, St. Catharines, and Niagara Falls will gain access to direct weekend trains. This change supports regional connectivity and offers a faster alternative to highway travel.
Trains already serving West Harbour will also see efficiency gains, with time savings reaching up to eight minutes in each direction. These improvements help optimize service without compromising comfort or reliability.
New Track Enhances GO Transit Efficiency
The newly completed infrastructure allows seamless passage through West Harbour Station. This eliminates delays and enables a smoother, more direct route for GO Transit trains.
Operational flow has improved across the Lakeshore West line, giving riders consistent and timely service. By reducing technical limitations, Metrolinx has upgraded the entire corridor.
More Options for GO Transit Riders in the Region
The added service boosts train frequency between Hamilton and Niagara. Weekend riders in particular will benefit from new options that eliminate the need for transfers or alternate modes of transport.
Metrolinx aims to build a more reliable network across southern Ontario. With this expansion, GO Transit takes a key step toward that goal by improving accessibility and reducing trip times.
