GATX Corporation has signed a deal with Progress Rail Services to acquire 156 locomotives, significantly expanding its fleet in North America to over 650 units, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The company operates actively across various regions, with North America remaining a key market.

In Europe, GATX engages in railcar leasing through its GATX Rail Europe division, based in Vienna.

The recent acquisition adds to GATX’s locomotive fleet, which includes models GP15-1, GP38-2, GP40, SW1000/SW1001, SW1200, SW1500, MP15AC, MP15DC, SD38-2, and SD.

These locomotives are leased to railroads and industrial companies to meet their transportation needs. Additionally, GATX is involved in the buying, selling, and trading of locomotives.

In other company news, Croatian firm Duro Dakovic will supply GATX with grain cars worth 30 million euros.
