OMON, militia, traffic police, the military, as well as armed people without identification marks have been increasingly involved in protecting railways in Belarus in recent weeks. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Belarusian Hajun project.

Guard posts are organized under railway bridges and at crossings during the passing of military echelons. In some places, even spikes are laid out. “Guards” are armed with machine guns, and sometimes with grenade launchers. When approaching the railway tracks away from the stations, people are asked for documents.

In general, guards are noticed along the entire route of the echelons.

There can be several reasons for this:
– An attempt to prevent the movement of echelons, including those with Russian military equipment, from being recorded.
– Fear of sabotage by the “rail partizans”.
