France Launches Zou! Regional Trains for Passenger Convenience

France Improves Rail Transport in the Region. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

An official ceremony was held at Nice station to mark the launch of Zou! trains for residents and tourists. Operator SNCF Voyageurs Sud Azur began operations on December 15, 2024, under a ten-year contract.

Routes include Les Arcs – Cannes – Menton, Grasse – Ventimiglia, and Nice – Tende. The contract was awarded through a competitive selection process, ensuring high-quality service.
The Cannes – Nice – Menton line now offers an additional 20,000 seats daily. This expansion was made possible by increasing train frequency to every 15 minutes.
Trains operate from 5:45 AM to 10:00 PM daily, including weekends, with extended service on Saturdays until 2:00 AM. These improvements enhance convenience for regional passengers.
How France Modernized Rail Transport?
Before launching Zou!, a €164 million program was implemented to upgrade trains. Additionally, a modern technical center was built in Nice at a cost of €62 million.
Since the start of operations, passenger traffic has increased by 10%, thanks to an improved schedule. Train punctuality has reached 97%, enhancing the reliability of rail services.
