Foothill Gold Line Light Rail Adds Modern Stations and Facilities

The $1.5 billion project constructed four new light rail stations, providing modern infrastructure. Parking facilities, train control systems, and sound walls enhance commuter convenience and safety measures.

Key features include upgraded tracks, advanced safety systems, and sustainable designs for noise control. The extension spans 9.1 miles and improves transit options between Glendora and Pomona.

Funding and Sustainability for Foothill Gold Line Light Rail

Funding came primarily from Los Angeles County’s Measure M half-cent sales tax initiative. Additional sources included Measure R and a $300 million state grant for infrastructure development.

Sustainability efforts used $650,000 in grants to recycle materials, including 548,200 tires. These practices reduce noise and align with California’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation systems.

The Foothill Gold Line light rail now prepares for final testing and operator training. Metro will oversee inspections and approvals before announcing the official service launch later this year.
