India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train to launch in January with new amenities, safety features and a comfortable ride. Main Features Of The First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train
The inaugural Vande Bharat sleeper train is manufactured jointly by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and ICF. Originally intended for 180 km/h, the inclusion of more sleeper berths increased the train weight and reduced the maximum speed to 130 km/h, but still provides a luxurious travel experience with the latest facilities.

For passengers, this means better air conditioning, USB sockets and large luggage racks. Dedicated pet area and sanitary facilities to make travel more inviting for families. The train is also equipped with fire detection and crashworthiness technology for the highest levels of safety.
It has streamline shape for reducing wind resistance, ergonomic resting points for the long journey. Catering services consist of freshly prepared foods from full kitchens and pantries, providing passengers a range of options when on board.
First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train With World-Class Facilities
The train consists of 16 coaches, including AC first class, AC two tier and AC three tier coaches and can carry 823 persons, including passengers and staff. They have ergonomic seats, folding tables and plenty of legroom for a comfortable drive.
Safety first: Performance monitoring is managed; with a Black Box and a Vigilance Control Device which demands driver’s intervention every minute. Air conditioned and bio-digester tanks are installed for maintaining uniform temperature and cleanliness in the toilets respectively.
Quarry cleanliness elements also include waste compactors and serviced toilets with a variety of aesthetic options to suit different tastes. Shower facilities are also available to passengers of premium class, providing for both comfort and convenience C 17-C 17.

In 2023, BEML were awarded a contract to build 10 Vande Bharat sleeper trains, containing 16 coaches each. This agreement reinforces India’s strong focus on upgrading its transportation infrastructure and improving the overall travelling experience for the millions of passengers who rely on the country’s rail network.
