First train to undergo testing at SRTC ahead of launch
RTS Operations, a joint venture of Prasarana and SMRT, will operate the line. The first train will undergo months of testing at SRTC, followed by further evaluation on the actual RTS Link route.
This early testing phase is designed to address any system integration challenges, so the full rollout can stay on schedule and ensure safe, seamless operations at launch.
First train to boost cross-border travel by end of 2026
The line is expected to open by December 2026, offering peak capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction. This will ease congestion on the Johor-Singapore Causeway significantly.
Passengers will benefit from a fast five-minute ride, with immigration checks completed at the departure stations, eliminating the need for double clearance on arrival.
The livery of each first train reflects the colors of Singapore, Malaysia, and Johor, representing unity and partnership. This symbolic design highlights the collaborative spirit of the cross-border infrastructure effort.
With operations led by RTSO and systems delivered by CRRC, the project signals a major advancement in regional transportation, promising both convenience and efficiency for daily commuters.
