The International and European Transport Workers’ Federations, as well as trade unions from Sweden (Union to union and SEKO) and the Polish trade union “Solidarity” joined the provision of humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian railway workers.

Assistance to Ukrainian railway workers

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to Railinsider.

The first batch of humanitarian cargo arrived on March 25 from abroad to Lviv. Among the goods are mattresses, pillows, blankets, bed linen (a total of 250 sets).

“Right now, there is an acute need in the West of Ukraine, where they take care of families of railway workers, provide equipment and rest for locomotive and train crews, and the like,” the trade union noted.

In addition, European colleagues continue to provide assistance to the families of Ukrainian railway workers who are forced to seek asylum in the EU countries due to Russian aggression.

The next arrival of humanitarian cargo to Ukraine is expected one of these days.

As previously reported, the OPMU demands the exclusion of Russian trade unions from the International Transport Workers’ Federation. Also, the Trade Union of Railway Workers and Transport Builders of Ukraine announced the withdrawal from the International Confederation of Trade Unions of Railway Workers due to the aggression of the Russian Federation.
