Euro 2024 in Germany: DB Railways Transported Over 3 Million Fans in the First Week

During the first week of the Euro 2024 championship in Germany, DB railways successfully transported over 3 million passengers on their intercity ICE and InterCity (IC) trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

During this period, 182,000 special tickets for fans were sold starting at €29.9, and 60,000 Fan BahnCard cards were distributed, along with approximately 7,000 discounted Interrail passes at 25% off.

DB adapted to the influx of guests by adding 14 additional trains daily, increasing seating capacity by 10,000.
For traveler comfort and safety, 300 guides and 16,000 UEFA volunteers were stationed at stations to provide assistance and information.
Security was a top priority with 6,000 police officers and 4,500 security personnel ensuring public order and safety throughout the tournament.
Despite train delays due to construction, DB minimized inconvenience by deploying 3,000 technical personnel.
Special information bureaus in host cities such as Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dortmund, Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen, Stuttgart, and Düsseldorf provided fans with necessary information and assistance.
