How to Participate in the 2025 America’s Transportation Awards?

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has officially launched this prestigious competition. Now in its 18th year, the program honors innovative projects that improve transportation infrastructure and quality of life.

State transportation agencies can submit up to four projects, selecting from these categories: Operations Excellence, Safety, Quality of Life, and Best Use of Technology & Innovation. The contest highlights the most impactful initiatives that drive progress in communities nationwide.

Competition Structure and Award Prizes

Nominated projects first compete regionally in three cost-based groups: small (under $10 million), medium ($10 million–$100 million), and large (over $100 million). The top-scoring projects from each region will advance to the national level.

The Top 12 finalists will be selected after the regional evaluations conclude. These finalists will then compete for two prestigious awards: the Grand Prize, chosen by industry experts, and the People’s Choice Award, decided by public voting.

The Grand Prize winner and the People’s Choice Award recipient will each receive $10,000 to donate to a charity or scholarship of their choice. The winners will be revealed at AASHTO’s annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, this November.
