Electrical Failure Disrupts Metro Montreal Blue Line Service

Metro Montreal experienced a significant disruption Thursday morning as the entire Blue Line shut down for 90 minutes due to an electrical equipment failure. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The incident started around 7:45 a.m., halting train operations across all Blue Line stations. STM immediately launched shuttle buses to help commuters continue their trips despite the disruption.

By 9:15 a.m., service resumed after maintenance crews repaired the damaged equipment. Metro Montreal officials confirmed the issue on their official X account and updated users throughout the outage.

To reduce delays, STM deployed buses between affected stations, ensuring passengers had transport options during peak hours. This helped ease congestion and maintain some level of service continuity.
Technicians acted quickly, and service restoration was completed in just over an hour. The STM emphasized its commitment to reliable service and passenger safety moving forward.
