Eid train travel sees surge as thousands leave Dhaka
04.06.2025
Eid train travel surged on Wednesday morning as thousands of passengers departed Dhaka, filling Kamalapur Railway Station with crowds on the fifth day of advance-ticket departures. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

By 11 a.m., 31 trains had departed, most of them on schedule. The Lalmonirhat-bound special left 30 minutes late, while the Teesta Express faced a delay due to electrical problems.

Railway staff enforced strict ticket checks at the station entrance. Additional screenings occurred at platform gates, and mobile courts operated alongside security personnel to prevent disorder and illegal ticket sales.
Kamalapur Station Manager Sajedul Islam noted an increased volume of passengers. “Today the crowd feels heavier than in previous days,” he said. He confirmed that trains ran with minimal delays and security efforts had intensified.
Families and students embrace Eid train travel to reconnect
Young travelers like seventh-grader Tahmid Abdul Hakim eagerly boarded trains with family members. “We visit my grandfather in Shyamganj every Eid. My cousins are there. I always look forward to it,” he said with a smile.
Not all passengers had smooth journeys. Anwar Hossain, who aimed to board the Agnibina Express, missed his train due to heavy traffic. He arrived just 10 minutes late. “It was frustrating, but I’ll find another way,” he said.
Eid train travel prompts tight control and advance planning
Rail authorities emphasized that no one would board without a valid ticket. Legal actions would follow for anyone caught scalping. Officials urged passengers to plan early and respect station protocols.
Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on June 7. The number of homebound travelers is expected to rise in the coming days. So, railway teams continue to prioritize timely departures and crowd management across the network.
