30.06.2025
Egypt is expanding its Transport Partnership with Türkiye to improve trade routes across Asia, Africa, and Europe, focusing on maritime, rail, road, and air links for efficient movement of goods and people. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

At the 2025 Global Connectivity in Transport Forum in Istanbul, Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir outlined projects like port upgrades, regional railways, and smart corridors to drive intra-African trade and open new export markets.

The minister said Egypt’s strategy aims to develop sustainable, intelligent transport systems while boosting national infrastructure and global logistics integration to support wider economic goals.
Türkiye remains Egypt’s top African trade partner. Turkish Ambassador Salih Mutlu Sen noted $500 million in new Turkish investments in Egypt this year, creating tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
Adel el-Lami, head of the Egyptian-Turkish Business Council, emphasized that economic ties have strengthened since 2013, as both countries pursue broader cooperation across logistics and infrastructure.
Transport Partnership Expands Maritime and Rail Connectivity
El-Lami highlighted plans to expand container capacity on shipping lines passing through the Suez Canal. These moves are designed to streamline maritime logistics and grow bilateral shipping volumes.
He also stressed the need to remove trade barriers to strengthen private and government-level agreements and make the Transport Partnership more impactful.
Transport Partnership Supports Egypt’s Export Hub Vision
During President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to Türkiye in September, both nations signed multiple agreements to deepen commercial ties and launch joint transport ventures.
Professor Mohammed Ali Ibrahim from the University of Istanbul said Egypt could become a transit gateway for Turkish exports to Africa, supporting its goal to become a key export and logistics hub.
This alignment strengthens Egypt’s regional role and positions the Transport Partnership as a driver of long-term development across continents.
