Egypt Acquires 7 Talgo Trains for €200 Million with 40-Year Installments

The Egyptian government has completed the ratification process for a loan agreement to acquire seven Talgo locomotive-powered trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The Spanish government will provide a loan of €200 million with a 40-year installment plan and a 10-year grace period.

The contract between Egypt’s national railway operator, ENR, and the Spanish manufacturer was signed in 2022.

Spanish funding will enable Egypt to make these long-awaited updates without placing significant short-term pressure on its budget.
