The first branch, covering 21 km, connects Al Khor Interchange to Dubai Festival City. It extends through Dubai Creek Harbour, International City 1, and ends at Dubai Academic City.
Dubai Metro Blue Line: Capacity and Economic Impact
Designed for 46,000 passengers per hour, Dubai Metro Blue Line will run every 2 minutes. It expects 200,000 daily passengers by 2030, rising to 320,000 by 2040.
This project supports Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and aims to reduce congestion by 20%. Property values near stations may rise by up to 25%, boosting urban development.
Iconic Stations and Facilities
Dubai Creek Harbour station, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, reflects modern architectural vision. International City 1 hosts the metro’s largest underground interchange, accommodating 350,000 passengers daily.
Operational support includes a new depot in Al Ruwaiyah, ensuring smooth service and maintenance. This facility underscores Dubai’s commitment to efficiency and long-term transit expansion.
Sustainability and Long-Term Benefits
Dubai Metro Blue Line follows platinum-grade green building standards, prioritizing sustainability and eco-friendly practices. It reduces emissions, fuel usage, and accident-related costs, benefiting the environment.
Every dirham invested is projected to generate 2.6 dirhams in returns by 2040. Planners predict significant economic, social, and environmental improvements from reduced traffic and fuel consumption.
The Dubai Metro Blue Line builds on Dubai Metro’s proven success, serving over 850,000 daily riders. Since 2009, it has transported 2.5 billion passengers, cementing its role as a transit backbone.
By aligning with Dubai’s 20-Minute City initiative, it ensures fast access to essential services. The expansion enhances urban mobility, sustainability, and livability, reflecting Dubai’s global vision.
