Architectural firm URB has announced an ambitious project to create the world’s most environmentally friendly highway, called “Dubai Green Spine,” in Dubai, UAE, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This innovative project will combine advanced technologies and sustainable solutions aimed at minimizing environmental impact and improving the quality of life for city residents.

The main feature of “Dubai Green Spine” will be the integration of tram lines powered by solar energy.

Two tram lines will be located in the center of the highway and will be powered by electricity generated by solar panels installed directly on the tracks.

This approach will not only ensure a stable power supply but also significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The total length of the project will be 64 kilometers.

On either side of the tram lines, there will be roads for vehicles, and between them, pedestrian boulevards, bike lanes, and park areas. This distribution of space will create comfortable conditions for all road users and promote an active lifestyle for city residents.

The solar panels installed on the tram tracks will generate more than 300 megawatts of clean renewable energy.

This amount will be enough to power about 130,000 homes in Dubai.

The implementation of such technologies in the transportation infrastructure will significantly reduce the city’s carbon footprint.

According to URB, switching to solar energy after the completion of “Dubai Green Spine” will reduce CO2 emissions by 1 million tons per year.

The “Dubai Green Spine” project is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to transition to sustainable development and reduce dependence on fossil energy sources.

In the context of global climate change and growing urbanization, such initiatives are becoming increasingly relevant and necessary.

Combining advanced technologies and environmentally friendly solutions within a single project demonstrates that the future of transportation can be both efficient and eco-friendly. “Dubai Green Spine” in Dubai will be a vivid example for other megacities worldwide striving for sustainable development and environmental protection.
