Ukrzaliznytsia plans to increase the share of domestically produced goods in procurement. Currently, the average indicator is 74%, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The share of Ukrainian products in Ukrzaliznytsia's procurement is 74%

This was announced by the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Evgeny Lyashenko, during the “Made in Ukraine” forum.

Brake Equipment for Railways and Subways

«On average, the share of Ukrainian products in Ukrzaliznytsia’s procurement is 74%. For some items, it’s even 100%. However, we have a need to increase domestic production (in procurement). However, this will depend, in part, on the ability of local manufacturers to supply us with the necessary materials and components,» said Evgeny Lyashenko.

He noted that some of Ukrzaliznytsia’s programs cannot be fully implemented precisely because of insufficient supply.

Since the start of full-scale invasion, the company has faced the need to find replacements for a number of items that partners have stopped producing.

«We had a large portion of Russian spare parts that we now have to replace. A large number of our critical suppliers were located in Berdyansk, Melitopol, Mariupol. For example, the only supplier of rails for Ukrzaliznytsia was the non-operating Azovstal metallurgical plant. Therefore, the challenges we faced before the war have become even more difficult,» added the head of Ukrzaliznytsia.

As previously reported, Ukrzaliznytsia will cooperate with manufacturers for import substitution.
