18.10.2023
A historic moment for the Latvian Daugavpils Locomotive Repair Plant (DLRR) as they have produced their first trams, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.
In collaboration with the Czech company Pragoimex, two low-floor trams, EVO1.
“Kazakhstan Railways” declined applications to import 151 thousand tons of wheat from Russia
According to DLRR’s plans, two more cars will be manufactured and sent to Daugavpils by the end of the year, where they will be put into operation by the public transport operator, Daugavpils satiksme.
This €7.4 million contract was signed in September 2022.
The EVO1 tram, as per Pragoimex’s information, is a modern transport vehicle with two articulated bogies, reducing wheel and rail wear.
The tram’s body is constructed with a welded steel frame, sturdy fiberglass body panels, and a sandwich laminate roof.
Importantly, the tram’s length and capacity can be customized to meet the customer’s needs.
This step in tram production marks a new era for DLRR, which had previously specialized in locomotive and electric train repair and modernization.
