Deutsche Bahn has begun the modernization of a 23-kilometer stretch of railway in the federal state of Hesse, with a project cost of 1.6 billion euros, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This section, running from Hanau to Gelnhausen, is crucial for expanding the DB network and implementing a regular train schedule.
This year, locomotive-building plants in Kazakhstan will supply more than 140 locomotives
The project includes building third and fourth tracks, updating technical systems like power supply, installing noise barriers, and modernizing stations.
Funding comes from the German federal budget.
After completion in 2036, local trains will run on outer tracks, while long-distance and freight trains will use inner tracks designed for speeds up to 230 km/h.
DB also plans to build a new high-speed section between Gelnhausen and the approach to Fulda, increasing the number of tracks between these stations.
