Siemens Mobility India has signed a contract with Wabtec for the supply of brake systems for 1200 electric locomotives in India, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The agreement, signed in early 2023, is valued at $157 million and includes technical maintenance for 35 years.

Wabtec will manufacture integrated brake control systems at its facility in Hosur.

The delivery of electric locomotives, designed for freight trains weighing up to 4500 tons at speeds up to 120 km/h, is scheduled for 2024.
