The Parisian public transport operator, IdFM, continues to upgrade its tram fleet by activating an option to procure an additional 28 TW20 model trams under its contract with Alstom, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These trams will start operating on Line T1, connecting Monterea and Val-de-Fontenay, from 2025.

The TW20 represents an innovative solution in public transport. This tram model is 15% more spacious than existing models, improving capacity and reducing passenger waiting times.
With its low-floor design and wide door openings, the TW20 tram ensures easy access for all passengers, including those with reduced mobility.
A significant advantage of the new tram is its modern information system, featuring 20 screens and 32 USB ports onboard. These features allow passengers to access real-time route information and charge their electronic devices during the journey.
The introduction of TW20 trams will increase the frequency on Line T1 from the current five-minute intervals to four minutes, significantly reducing waiting times at stops and making public transport more attractive to city residents.
The contract for TW20 trams was signed in 2021, initially comprising an order for 37 units totaling €130 million.
These trams are expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
The additional order of 28 trams confirms the successful collaboration between IdFM and Alstom and their commitment to improving the quality of public transport in Paris.
Thus, the implementation of TW20 trams marks a significant step in the city’s transport infrastructure development, aimed at enhancing comfort and convenience for passengers.
This initiative underscores Paris’s dedication to modern technologies and innovations in public transport, ultimately contributing to the creation of a more environmentally friendly and efficient transport community.
